William Martin was instructed by Skinners Company to undertake all essential works to the fabric of the building and investigate the practicable options of improving accessibility to this building.
The specific areas instructed to be reported upon were access from the courtyard area. As Skinners Hall is Grade 1 listed and an Ancient Monument listed building consent was required for any changes to the property in part or whole. Any permanent change to the building required approval by the Conservation Officer and The English Heritage.
The most practicable solution seemed the installation of a supervised ‘Roll a Ramp’ to overcome the height differential between existing courtyard and Outer Hall entrance landing. This was acceptable from a legislative compliance point of view and clearly the most cost effective solution.
